AI-on-Demand (AIoD) is seeking highly qualified external experts to join the evaluation committee for its platform’s Open Call 1 (Private Sector) https://www.aiodp.ai/open_calls/. Play a pivotal role in selecting the most mature, innovative AI solutions to be integrated into Europe's premier AI-on-Demand Platform and deployed in real-world industrial use cases.

The opportunity

AI-on-Demand is awarding up to €60,000 in funding to AI Providers to accelerate the market uptake of mature European AI (check the Guide for Applicants HERE). We are looking for independent experts to assess high-TRL products (TRL 7 or above) for their technical excellence, business scalability, and alignment with the AIoD Platform.

What is expected from evaluators?

Evaluators will conduct remote assessments between 01/07/2026 and 31/07/2026. Your primary responsibility is Evaluation No. 1: selecting the top 50 AI products to enter the Stage 1 "Pitch & Select" phase from a pool of eligible applicants. 

 

  • Remote review: Evaluate a minimum of 3–4 proposals (target workload: 2–3 days spread over the two-week period).
  • Scoring & reporting: Provide detailed scores (1–10) and written justifications (ESRs) across four criteria: Tech Concept, Team Skills, Implementation Plan, and Scalability.
  • Consensus & alignment: Participate in consensus meetings (required for score discrepancies > 2 points) and potential online interviews.
  • Compliance: Sign a Declaration of Honour regarding Confidentiality and the Absence of Conflict of Interest.

Remote assessments between the 1st and 31st of July





Timeline & Onboarding

June 2026: Contracting & KYC

Selected experts must undergo a "Know Your Customer" (KYC) check (proof of ID/address) and digitally sign their contract via SignNow.

Late June 2026: Mandatory Briefing

A one-hour online briefing covering AIoD objectives, F6S platform navigation, and scoring procedures. Attendance is mandatory and must occur before receiving access to proposals.

July 2026: Evaluation Period

Independent remote evaluation and submission of scoring sheets.

What is the expert profile?

  • Evaluation experience: Proven track record with EC proposal evaluations, Cascade Funding, or H2020/Horizon Europe Open Calls.
  • Technical proficiency: Expertise in AI and digital technologies, with the ability to assess technical quality, innovation, and scalability and to verify TRL 7+ maturity.
  • Business insight: Strong business perception, including evaluation of market potential and business models.
  • Ethics & compliance: Awareness of responsible AI and regulatory frameworks, ensuring alignment with ethical and compliance standards
  • EU AI ecosystem knowledge: Experience in innovation or entrepreneurship, to assess team capacity and growth potential, as well as understanding of AI implementation and impact across sectors and real-world use cases.

Selection and checks: The selection of experts to support AIoD in the evaluation of the Open Call will be taken at a later stage, since it depends on the number of received proposals, their origin, the domain that they target as well as the origin of the potential evaluators, their affiliations, their expertise and the balance between various criteria (e.g. gender, background, affiliation type, age, expertise etc.). Furthermore, AIoD may be required to change the experts that support the evaluations of proposals. All experts contracted to support the evaluations will be subject to an administrative check - provision of personal information may apply. 

Use of AI: AI tools may only be used for secondary purposes under the full responsibility of the expert and will be required to document their usage. Uploading applications (proposals) to any AI tool is strictly forbidden as it violates data privacy, intellectual property, and security guarantees. The expert will be solely liable for any resulting data breach. 

This Contract Template sets out the rights and obligations and the terms and conditions between the contractor and the External Evaluator.
